If only it was a simple straight answer, it can be but I have a few things to say first! 

When GAHD was launched we offered the OG that is scented with vanilla and we ran with it. 300 bottles gone in the first 3 days! The feedback was amazing and our people were raving…even those with BLACK hair! Wow! A white powdered dry shampoo that humans with dark hair were loving. Really and truly I would not fib about this. I was so happy to hear it!

6 months went by and we started to get some people who wanted something tinted so i started formulating. 

Got it! 

Launched it, 

Faaack people are saying it smells! (it was the cacao) 

Pull it! 

Back to formulating…it took me months, but finally I was happy with it and that is the dark formula we have today. 

All this goes to say you really cant go wrong in choosing which one is right for you. Maybe your hair is in the middle between blonde and brunette but you dont like the smell of vanilla, get dark! Maybe vanilla is your favorite scent but your hair is on the darker side. Get the OG! 

Then refer to my many videos(& blog posts) about application! It's the most important thing about using dry shampoo, HANDS DOWN! 

Don't be complaining about a white cast if you're applying like a wild animal.

Like shingles on a roof… Did you know, the cuticle of your hair looks similar to shingles on a roof? That is one bit of information that I think about at least weekly. Something my Phase 1 cosmetology school teacher Lyndon taught me that I'll never forget and it's something you should know too because it can help you have better hair!  No one wants ruffled up shingles, on their house(leakage) or their hair (frizz, damage).  Things you can do to have ruffled shingles- get your hair bleached, have wet hair, blowdry without intention and sometimes even just having hair will get you there (everyone uses different products and has different routines) Yay!  I shared in a TikTok video that if you aren't blow drying your hair to 100% dry, you're doing it wrong. When hair is wet the shingle is open and your hair won't be smooth. Or if you're blow drying with your hair flying all over it's essentially providing a tornado for your locks. Yikes, time for damage control.  This is why silk pillowcases became so popular, to aid in not ruffling the shingles. This is why smoothing your hair in one direction while blow drying is important, to not ruffle the shingles. This is why it's important to see a trusted stylist, so they don't blow your shingles off if you're lightening your hair.  If your hair is naturally curly the makeup of it is more dry (i dont make the rules) but you most likely lean towards a shampoo and conditioner for dry hair, that's great! A drink for your hair is helping to close the shingles! If your hair has been lifted(bleached) you probably are using products geared toward damage control, wahoo! You're helping to close the shingles! If your hair is limp, maybe you use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner and then follow it up with more volume products and a blow drying session with your head upside down, a paddle brush and intentional movement to close the shingles! YAAASSS! I hope that this little shingle smoothing run-down has found you having a good ass day, and helps you get one or even 2 steps closer to your own Good Ass HAIR Day!

The Quick (and Clean) Guide to Dry Shampooing Like a Pro

Quick and Dirty err should i say Clean version of Dry Shampooing your hair starting with: Wash Day! Detox,cleanse or shampoo…whatever you’ve got. Shampoo a second time. If you don't wash your hair often(I go 7 days with 0 shame in my game) there are more crusties and critters in there than one would think so hop to it!  Now that your hair is clean as a whistle, condition- mids and ends ONLY! We don't need to give our scalp a reason to be any oilier by putting a slippery product at our root (i wanted to add the emoji here lol) While that conditioner is in, grab your wide tooth comb or soft bristled brush(Ergo’s super gentle mini iconic paddle brush) and gently comb through your mids and ends. Why?? So when you get out of the shower all you have to do is squeeze the water out of your hair and not rip through it to get the tangles out…i see you!  Whip that mop up in a towel, we want 80% dry before we touch it with styling products or a blow dryer. Why?? Most products' first ingredient is water, if we are adding it to more water we’re just diluting it and not getting the benefits. Why blow dry longer than you need to? Let that sh*t dry out while you’re putting lotion on and doing your skincare routine, we’re using our precious time wisely!  Hair is 80% dry, you've added your volumizing or smoothing products and are ready to rock. Tip your head all the way over or to the side. Working from root to end with a paddle brush in one hand a your blow dryer(my Ergo recommendation) in the other. Tip to the other side if needed* Keep at it until your hair is 100% dry! How did it go? This is making me think about having to write directions in 3rd grade on how to make a PB&J!lol Did you succeed!? I sure hope so!  Okuuur, hair is dry…youre almost done! Add dry shampoo! Why?? We are beating the grease rather than having to make up for it my friends, trust me! Starting top of ear work in horizontal sections up to your part BUT NOT ON IT! Then do the same thing on the other side. From the nape of your neck to the crown of your head, horizontal sections. Brush through, massage in or both! Why not apply directly to your part? I don't enjoy setting myself up for failure and don't want you to either. Put dry shampoo ¼-½ inch underneath it so you don't end up with a glob(it happens!)That is a full dry shampoo application to assure that you don't have any spots that are going to end up greasy!  Typically I wear my hair like this for 1-2 because it's flat and fine(uggh) but on day 2-3 I use a wave iron or curl it, add more dry shampoo/hair spray/heat protectant/spray wax etc. Then I'm set for the next 4-5 days! Doing a bit of restyling each day(alwayss more dry shampoo even if it's just at my hairline). Your hair is different from mine and most other humans depending on your habits. Do what works for you!
